The “Key to Fitness” is what I’m calling this medal display rack. Everyone that sees this display empty says it looks like a key, so I’m going with it. After all, the key to fitness IS exercise/athletics, right? The medals displayed in the model are from my son’s first two years of middle school cross country. He goes to a small school where they have about 10 meets per year plus a couple of local races that he has run in. Running is not the only sport that has medals and bibs though, I’m sure this could be used for many different sports.

There are 21 holes for medals to be displayed. For the medals with ribbons you just put the ribbon through the hole and pull it as tight as you like. For the medals without ribbons I used a shoe lace but you could use a ribbon.

The picture frame area has glass installed. The frame is big enough for a 4x6 picture but with some matting a 3x5 would look good too.

The front is the display portion and the back holds everything together. It’s self-explanatory how the back fits. Once the picture is in place, the medals are attached, the bibs and ribbons are placed the back panel is placed in position and the pins are slid through the eye screws. It’s all set to hang on the wall. There is weather stripping attached to the back panel holds everything in place. On the back of the back panel there is a slot for a screw or nail head, the slot is long enough to allow for adjustment so the display hangs straight.

The finish is a white latex paint. It seems like most schools have white or black as one of their school colors. I don’t have one painted black yet but that’s the plan. Before loading up the display the rack can be painted with the other school color (blue, red, etc) to really customize the look of the display.
